A large and well-established local authority in London is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join them on a locum basis as a Principal Lawyer of the Criminal Litigation and Regulatory Team.
In this role, you will be managing a friendly and stable team of 6, with the support of a Deputy, and you will manage a reduced caseload of litigation matters. The team deal with a range of cases, including licensing, planning enforcement, disabled badge fraud, Housing Act 2004 appeals, regulatory cases and tribunals.
The successful Principal Lawyer will have prior experience of line managing a team and will be a specialist in criminal litigation law. Prior local authority experience is advantageous, and you must be a qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, CILEx).
This is a hybrid role with office attendance required 1 day per week, and court attendance as required. Attendance at licensing committees is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive)
- Extensive criminal litigation and/or licensing experience
- Management experience
- Experience working in local government or in a firm that deals with such work (strongly desirable)
